Staffs of The Chennai Silks anguished seeing their workplace engulfed in fire

Speaking to DT Next, a reliable source from the Chennai Silks, said that employees have not been left abandoned. “The 1,100 employees working in the T-Nagar branch will be employed in the company’s 17 branches across Tamil Nadu. Most of the employees are from various parts of the state. They can work at the branch nearest to their native place. If they are comfortable, they can stay there or return to the T-Nagar outlet once it’s rebuilt. We always have a requirement for staff in our outlets,” said the source, adding that the employees won’t be affected.

The employees’ original certificates, which is standard policy for the employers to retain while offering a job, are safe, said the source. “The original documents are in the company’s headquarters in Tiruppur,” added the source.  Despite the fire breaking out on May 31, when salary is due to be credited, employees have received their pay on time. Suresh (name changed), an employee, who has been working for four years in the T-Nagar outlet, said, “The salary was credited on June 1, as always.

We knew it would be the case since the company has always taken care of its employees. We haven’t faced any issue other than the fact that our workplace has faced the disaster. It was a painful moment for us.”
