Krishnagiri girl ranked third in differently abled category
The phone hasn’t stopped buzzing at Dharshana MV’s residence ever since the Class 12 results were announced on Sunday.
Chennai
Visually impaired Dharshana of Nalanda International Public School in Krishnagiri secured third rank in the differently abled category with 483 marks. She secured 94 in English, 97 in Computer Science, 99 in Business Studies, 98 in Economics and 95 in Accountancy. Having no vision in her right eye and with partial sight in the left, she chose to write the paper by herself.
“I have micro cornea and I used magnifying glasses to read the question paper. I wrote the paper myself with an extension of an hour. I was aware of the challenges and I practised writing model papers so that I kept an account of the time,” said 18-year-old Darshana, adding, “My school helped me prepare for the examinations. I didn’t go to a special school. Teachers and my friends were very supportive and I was treated like any other kid.”
She added that she preferred doing her revisions in the morning. “I came back home at 6 pm every day and didn’t have much time to prepare in the evening. Every morning I dedicated some time to do the revision and it worked.”
Her aim is to become an entrepreneur. “I will be pursuing my B Com in Chennai and my ultimate plan is to become an entrepreneur and create an inclusive work environment,” she noted.
