Migrant worker found dead on college premises

The incident came to light when the watchmen, who were opening the classrooms for the day, spotted the corpse and alerted cops. 

The main doors to the block, where the body was found, would be usually closed by 6 pm and the deceased must have sneaked into the building before the building was locked on Wednesday evening, police said.

“We have checked with the migrant workers involved in the construction of the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), but they were not able to identify the deceased. They have offered to check with their friends working in other construction sites in the city,” said a senior police official. 

“The naked-eye inspection gives an impression that the deceased might have died of natural causes. However, we would carry out a post-mortem to ascertain the actual cause of death once the identity is established,” the official added. 

The deceased was wearing only a jean trouser, and there were no documents to identify him.
