Associates of Sekhar Reddy get ED summons
The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Surveyor Rathinam and Ramachandiran, both associates of sand mining baron Sekhar Reddy, in a PMLA case registered against Reddy and his associates.
Chennai
ED Chennai unit has sent summons to them, with a direction to appear before the agency for interrogation.Â
The Enforcement Directorate, which had registered a case against the accused under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act based on an FIR registered against them by the CBI anti-corruption branch, had tried to arrest Ramachandiran and Rathinam as they failed to respond to two earlier summons issued by the ED.Â
The ED officials had waited for the duo at the CBI office at Shastri Bhavan in a bid to arrest them when they appear before the CBI as part of the bail condition. However, the agency later dropped the plan of arresting them at the CBI office and decided to issue one more summons, directing them to present before the agency for interrogation.Â
ED had registered a case against Sekhar Reddy and his associates following the seizure of huge cash and gold from them by the Income Tax department.
