Meet 65-year-old S Chandrika and her son Anbarasan from Saidapet. For this mother and son duo, being on board the inaugural metro train is not just a passion, but a custom that they have been judiciously following for a few years now.
“We were on board the inaugural train operated from Koyambedu to Alandur on the elevated corridor two years ago. Now, we are here,” Chandrika told DTNext on board the first service operated for public from Koyambedu to Nehru Park on Sunday morning.
The duo however was critical of the travel card only option given by CMRL for the underground section. “Indeed, Rs 10 card is cheap and affordable to most people, but what if illiterate people who are unfamiliar with travel card usage? If a regular user leaves his card at home by mistake and turns up at the station, should he or she miss the train and turn up late for work?” wondered Chandrika.
