Airman shoots himself at Tambaram IAF station

Kabir Singh (23), a native of Uttar Pradesh, was transferred to Chennai to work as an airman in the airbase. Singh was on security duty at the run-way and was patrolling the area last night. At around 8 pm, the staff at the station heard a gun shot. 

Alarmed by the sound, the staff rushed to the runway to find Singh lying in a pool of blood. 

Police was alerted and the body of Kabir Singh was sent to Chrompet government hospital for post-mortem.        

Police officials said that the airman committed suicide by shooting himself with his automatic rifle. Officials are also investigating to find the motive behind the suicide. 

A case has been registered with Selaiyur police station and further investigation is on.
