Aavin launches door delivery scheme in Chennai
Dairy Development Minister KT Rajendra Balaji launched ‘lllam Thedi Varum Aavin’, a free door delivery scheme of Aavin products, including milk sachets, on Thursday, at SAF Games Village in Koyambedu.

According to a release, the Minister said that the residents of SAF Games Village will have their choice of the Aavin products delivered at their door step at no extra cost. The scheme be extended to all 14 hi-tech parlours functioning in the city.
“The city’s Aavin unit sells a total of 11.7 lakh litres of milk per day. While wholesalers deal with 4 lakh litres, card holders are supplying 7.1 lakh litres and the retailers and other organisations are supplying 60,000 lakh litres. The city unit’s monthly sale of milk, and dairy products including butter, ghee, milk khoa, curd, butter-milk, flavoured milk, ice cream products, lassi, hot milk and milk powder amounts to Rs 18 crore. We are taking measures to increase it to Rs 20 crore. Aavin’s ice cream production and sale across the state amounts to Rs 1.25 crore. We are taking measures to increase the sales to Rs 3 crore. The construction of one more ice cream production unit, is under way in Madurai at a cost of Rs 45 crore,” Rajendra Balaji said.
“The skimmed milk powder manufactured at our Tiruvannamalai factory has earned a good reception in the markets in other States following its launch on April 24. In the State, the sale of skimmed milk powder is to the tune of 3.5 tonnes. Efforts are on to increase our market share in the milk powder segment in other States”, he added.
Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Agricultural Production Commissioner, and C Kamaraj, MD, Tamil Nadu Co-operative milk producers’ Federation, were also present during the launch.
