Tackle water shortage on war footing: Stalin
DMK working president MK Stalin has asked the state government to execute plans on a war footing to manage the acute drinking water shortage in the state.

Stalin, who visited a Metro Water pumping station in his constituency, met the residents too there. He said the DMK had chalked out special plans in anticipation of drought, but the ruling AIADMK was busy fending off criticism arising out of I-T raids in its minister’s residences. The Leader of Opposition also appealed to political parties, except the BJP and AIADMK, to attend Saturday’s public meeting, which would be followed by the general strike on April 25, expressing solidarity with the drought-hit farmers of the state.
The DMK had convened an all-party meeting on Sunday when it along with Left parties, VCK and existing allies resolved to lead a delegation of all-party leaders along with farmers to meet the Prime Minister. While participants of the all-party meeting had extended their support to the bandh, Vaiko’s MDMK said it would “neither support nor oppose” the bandh call issued by the DMK led opposition.
Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman criticised the DMK’s bandh call by arguing that the principal opposition does not have locus standi to organise the meet as it was mainly responsible for the present plight of the farmers.
