Huge haul of tobacco products

Over 237.5 kg of contraband products was seized and a penalty of Rs 22,500 levied on the offenders. The officials also conducted surprise raids to seize unhygienic foods meant for sale to the public – 2536.5 kg of unhygienic food was seized and a penalty of Rs 57,000 enforced.

The raids also seized 114 unsafe water cans, 92 bottles, 10,890 packets, which didn’t meet the quality standards, with a fine of Rs 3,500. Sale of plastic above 40-micron was checked and 198 kgs seized. However, no fine was levied. Eighty stray dogs and 16 stray cattle were also impounded.
