Chennai Metro Rail underground work is said to have caused these cracks near Gemini Flyover on Anna Salai. The portion of the road has now been cordoned off and repair work is underway.

CMRL officials are inspecting the site and the traffic has been diverted affecting parts of Nungambakkam and Teynampet.

On Sunday nearly three-dozen passengers on board a Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus and a doctor driving a car had a narrow escape after the vehicles plunged into a crater that had formed on Anna Salai after a portion of the road caved in near US Consulate.
