Mr Razak, who arrived last evening on a five-day official visit to India, met the actor at his Poes Garden residence this morning.

Later, Rajinikanth described the meeting as a courtesy call.

"We had a cordial meeting", he added.

He said his recent hit film Kabali was shot in Malaysia and  that he could get a chance to thank him and express his gratitude to him.

Razak's visit to Chennai comes ahead of general elections in Malaysia, where the Tamil diaspora has a considerable presence  and Rajinikanth, a large fan base.

It was during the actor's stay in Malacca that Mr Razak became a fan of the Superstar.

The actor also described as rumours that he was offered to  become the brand ambassador of Malaysia.

About his proposed meeting with fans on April two, he said  "the meeting was long over due as fans wanted photographs."

"There is nothing political about that and there will be no major announcement", he added.

About the cancellation of his visit to Sri Lanka to participate in functions and meet the Lankan Tamils there, Rajnikanth said "I have given my statement. I am disappointed...but It's all over and we will sort it out".

About his upcoming film 'Enthiran 2.0', he said the shooting was completed and it would be released during diwali festival.

"Everything went on well. It's set for a Diwali release", he said.
