Retired TNSTC staff seek benefits in pension
Retired employees of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation are pointing their finger at the government for not adding some monetary benefits to their pension.
Chennai
Following agitations by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Retried Employees’ Welfare Association (TNSTCREWA), the state government had settled the long pending dues recently.
According to members of the association, the government delayed the disbursal of pension for January and February prompting them to stage protests across the state.
K Veeraragavan, secretary of TNSTCREWA told DTNext, “The state government had announced in the Assembly that pension will be disbursed to 60,000 beneficiaries and we received the same on March 28. The government also assured that pension for April will be provided on 14th of that month.”
However, some of beneficiaries have expressed concerns over the pending arrears. “The government has failed to add Dearness Allowances (DA), commutation, earned leave and social security scheme (SSS) allowance in the pension. We are entitled to these benefits but the government has not taken this into consideration,” said a beneficiary. He also accused the government of blaming the loss of revenue in the transport department as a reason for delaying disbursal of pension.
