The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) on Saturday demanded a probe against schools that violate admission norms.
Chennai
The party came down heavily on a school in the city for reportedly declaring that admissions for LKG was over till the year 2020.
In a statement, S Ramadoss, founder of PMK, said “A citybased private school, Sishya located in Adyar, has openly announced that the school management completed its admission process for LKG till the academic year 2020-21 and admission has started for 2021-2022.”
“As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, the academic year starts from June, while admission process begins in May. This procedure must be followed. However, this school has started the admission process that too three years in advance,” the PMK leader pointed out. He raised a question that who provided such an authority to the school.
Stating that the school was following Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) syllabus and the concessions for minority sections were being misused by the school, Ramadoss said, “It is a clear indication that how private schools bypassed the norms and education has become a business.”
He further said that it was necessary that any school in Tamil Nadu following any kind of syllabus, should also follow all the guidelines laid down by the state government. “But, I am at a loss to understand the fact that why the state government has failed to take appropriate action against the Sishya School,” Ramadoss wondered.
He demanded the government to cancel the admission process and formulate a committee to enquire about past admission processes of the school.
