Security to be tightened at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital
Following the violence and related protests that broke out at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital on March 16, the state government announced that security would be strengthened and a separate bandobust, which was provided at the RGGGH on March 17, would be made permanent.

A security audit committee involving the head of the institution, government doctors, PGs and others would be constituted immediately in all government medical institutions, according to a release from the Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan. “At the district-level, the Collector will review the issues related to protection of hospital premises and personnel in the presence of the Dean/ Joint Director besides other representatives of private institutions by involving professional bodies like Indian Medical Association etc.,” Radhakrishnan said. Meanwhile, the Melmaruvathur police on Friday registered a case against Senthil Kumar(40), son of the Bangaru Adigalar, MD of the college and college clerk Sakthi Kannan (24) and college legal adviser advocate Jayamani (25) following a complaint from Vijay, a student from Tirunelveli.
