Officer appointed to clear builders’ appeals, says government
In a bid to stem the delay in settling appeals moved by builders under Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning act, the TN Government informed the Madras High Court that a post of Additional Secretary (Technical) in Housing and Urban Development Department has been created exclusively for this purpose.
Chennai
Additional Advocate General STS Moorthy on making a submission in this regard to first bench comprising acting Chief Justice Huluvadi G Ramesh and Justice M Sundar, handed over a Government Order (GO) issued on March 3.
As per the order, the post being an exclusive one meant to hear only appeals will be filled by a chief planner from CMDA. The said officer will offer technical advice to the Housing secretary and examine proposals relating to urban planning received from CMDA and director of Town and Country Planning.
Multi Storied Building proposals from CMDA, land reclassification proposal received from Director of Town and Country Planning and other proposals relating to variation in master plans of various planning authorities will also be considered by the officer.
It may be noted that GO was passed following the observation made by the then first bench headed by Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul pertaining to the inordinate delay in disposing the appeals. The case has been posted for further hearing to June 19.
