Police had flashed the CCTV images of a woman taking the child out of the hospital, in the media from Thursday morning and public who saw the woman with the child near Chinna Kodungaiyur called the police to pass on the information. A police team rushed to the spot and picked up the woman. Police identified the woman as Subhashini (45), a resident of Kamaraj Nagar, Ennore. During interrogation, Subhashini told the police that she took the child after she saw him standing alone and crying on the first floor of the hospital and the boy could not give any details regarding his parents.Â
However, police are not ready to buy her version and are now doing a background check on her to rule out any criminal intention behind the abduction. Earlier, a police team headed by Washermanpet deputy commissioner S Jayakumar sat through the night to analyse the CCTV footages to identify the abductor on Wednesday and they also created a computer assisted image of the woman’s face with the use of CCTV footage. The police team then released the footage through the media on Thursday morning. Police sources said the woman is a native of Ramanathapuram and her husband died some years ago. She has a girl child who is now studying in Class 5 and is living with the woman’s brother.
