Discontent among MAD Peravai cadre

Deepa became Secretary after divesting Raja of his post. Her plans to announce district level office bearers on Monday evening was put off for the next day. 

Announcement of Raja as Secretary lead to cadres protesting and blocking the road in front of her house on Sunday. “Madhavan, Deepa’s husband told us that office-bearers for all districts would be chosen through interviews based on the record of work they had undertaken to build the fledgling outfit. We were told that this would be announced through the media. Suddenly, we found that her driver was made the Secretary and though he was removed, it has created frustration among district convenors who spend time and money to develop the Peravai,” said Palani, Peravai’s Vellore convenor. 

“Deepa being related to Jayalalithaa was the only reason why the AIADMK rank and file wanted to support her, Deepa’s actions have turned many away from her,” said J Milton, another cadre. When the movement’s name and flag were announced to the media, no state or district level office bearers were announced. Deepa only announced that she would be the Treasurer.
