Civil engineer run over by MTC bus
In a freak accident, an MTC bus ran over a motorist after his bike skidded and came under the wheels on Wednesday on P T Rajan Salai in K K Nagar.

The accident took place when the victim, Suresh Kumar (27), a civil engineer from Aruppukottai living in New Perungalathur with his sister’s family, was on his way to work in Saligramam.
When he attempted to overtake an MTC bus near a turn (route No: 37D) on P T Rajan Salai around 8.30 am, his vehicle unexpectedly skidded and the rear wheels of bus crushed him.
Police said that Suresh died on the spot. The Guindy Traffic Investigation, which registered a case, sent his body to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. The police said, “It was the motorist’s fault, so we have not charged any case against the bus driver.”
Man run over by train
In an unrelated incident, the railway police retrieved an unidentified body of a man on the railway track between Nungambakkam and Chetpet on Wednesday morning. “The body was that of a man, aged about 25. He was run over by an Express train. His body was lying on the track near Cooum bridge. We did not find any identity card on him to contact his family. He was wearing a three-fourth trouser and a checked shirt,” the railway police said.
On spotting the body, public had called the helpline number. The body was sent to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital for post-mortem. The GRP have informed nearby stations to identify the victim.
