3-year-old killed, body dumped in garbage pile

The police suspect that the body could have been dumped there along with garbage by a Corporation sanitation vehicle. Police are now investigating if the girl was sexually assaulted also and the motive behind the murder. Police said the girl, daughter of a fisherman from Tsunami Quarters, Ennore, went missing from her house on Saturday evening. The girl was playing outside the house and disappeared without a trace. Her parents searched for the child and later lodged a complaint with the Ennore police station. 

“The parents had filed a complaint and were trying to trace the child. Meanwhile, on Sunday morning, we got call saying that a girl’s body was found at Tiruvotriyur. The missing girl’s parents later identified the body as their daughter’s,” S Rajendran, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Madhavaram, told DTNext. 

During investigation, police found a large aberration on the chest and a bleeding wound on the back of the head. The child’s mouth was gagged with a piece of cloth. “The post mortem examination is being conducted and we are awaiting the report to see whether she was sexually assaulted also. So far, we have not got any leads regarding the motive,” Rajendran said.

This is the second case in less than a week in Chennai. A 7-year-old girl was raped and murdered by a neighbour at Porur. The youth later dumped the body and torched it.
