Despite the lack of many sizzling growth opportunities, the field of forestry offers plenty of scope for those who love nature, and are keen to protect the environment

Currently, I am doing post graduation in Chemistry. It was a forced kind of situation for me. I love nature. I learn a lot about trees. I desire to pursue a career in forestry. What are the possibilities? Is there any short-term course to enter the field without any delay? (Sreeja Arun)
Forests are one of the invaluable natural resources. We need to sustain them to preserve the earth. They are the primary source of existence, ecology and economy. Forestry directly focuses on sustainable wildlife resource management, its utilization and development. Being a forester is being a close to nature as a conservation scientist. Hence, a career in forestry is enormously satisfying.

Today, the environmental issues have taken centre stage. Forestry becomes part of the solution. But no high-octane opportunities are created. Hence, people with specialisations tend to migrate out of their domain.
India has 635,400 sq.km of designated forest area, which is about 19.32 per cent of the country. A vast area with low career options, where only people with passion find their way. If you are naturally adventurous, forestry is not just a way it is your destination.
