History-sheeter hacked to death by gang at fishing harbour
A history-sheeter was hacked to death by a gang of five, including two women at a fishing harbour on Antony Amman Koil Street. The police have arrested three persons including a woman in this regard.
Chennai
On Sunday night, Prabhu (35), a resident of Poondi Thangammal street, was standing at a harbour near his residence when the gang attacked him with sickles. The assailants hacked Prabhu on his head and hands. His right hand was severed from the wrist. He also sustained deep injuries to the head. The gang fled the scene after the attack and Prabhu was rushed to the Government Stanley Hospital. Â Â
Police say that Prabhu was attacked by Karthik alias Kulla Karthik and his gang over previous enmity. Prabhu is survived by wife Sofia and two children, a boy and a girl. Both Karthik and Prabhu are history-sheeters with cases of attempt to murder (IPC 307) against them. The armed gang who attacked Prabhu include two women — Parameshwari and Yamuna.Â
Parameshwari is one among the three, who have been arrested. It is alleged that Karthik and Prabhu, who are related, have been at logger heads over parking their fishing boats on the sea shore.Â
Recently, Karthik had shifted his residence to Ennore, but had left his boat at the harbour. Prabhu kept fighting with Karthik asking him to remove the boat from the harbour. The police said that leaving the boats at a particular spot was a prestigious issue for the two. Prabhu and his brothers Sreenivasan and Kannan were detained under the Goondas Act and had came out on bail on November 25, said a police source.
