PMK’s pressure forced officials to open flyovers for public, claims Ramadoss

Dr S Ramadoss, founder of PMK, said “the state government has opened three flyovers-Vadapalani, Anna Arch and Retteri for motorists on Wednesday night and we welcome the move. Considering PMK’s insistence and convenience of public and motorists, such flyovers have been thrown open.”

Stating that flyovers on Vadapalani intersection, constructed at Rs 56 crore, the second flyover near Anna Arch, at the estimation of Rs 117 crore and Retteri flyover at Rs 53 crore were constructed. But the wait for the inauguration of the facility continued. The PMK leader said these flyovers would steadily ease traffic congestion if thrown open immediately for public use. “It is a fact that the proposals for these flyovers were made 10 years ago and however, the officials cited various reasons for delay. In such a condition, though construction works were over one month ago, the officials remained passive without opening the flyover,” the PMK leader blamed. He added that in a statement he issued earlier on Monday, the PMK had warned the officials that if they failed to open the completed flyovers, the party would inaugurate it on its own. 

Ramadoss also hinted that since the road infrastructure was a paramount of importance and people’s money was involved in the projects, the government should be keen on allowing the public to use the facilities as early as possible.
