Lt General RK Anand takes over as GOC
Lt General RK Anand took over as the General Officer Commanding of Dakshin Bharat Area. He assumed charge from Lt General Jagbir Singh, who retired from service.

A defence statement here said Dakshin Bharat Area oversees the largest military area of the country, encompassing the five Southern states, and has a large number of serving personnel and ex-servicemen. Â On assuming command, Lt Gen Anand laid a wreath at Victory War Memorial near Island Grounds and paid homage to the martyrs. Lt Gen Rakesh Kumar Anand was a 1981 batch officer. He has done M. Tech from IIT Delhi, M. Phil from Madras University and MMS from Osmania University. Â
The officer has vast experience both in technical and instructional fields and has served in various Regimental and Staff appointment. Â In his last tenure as Additional Director General Signals Staff, he was instrumental in implementing online, the complete documentation for Junior Commissioned Officers and other Ranks, E-Learning and online examination, a project now being implemented by all Record Offices. Â The officer was elected as 59th Colonel Command of Corps of Signals on January 1 2016. He has been awarded Sena Medal and Vishist Seva Medal. His wife Anupama Anand is an architect by profession and she is actively involved in empowerment of women with special emphasis on education and health care.
