“We are explaining the advantages of demonetisation. People are affected by the drastic measure but they are accepting it, saying it is for the welfare of the nation,” Vanathi told DTNext after distributing pamphlets at commercial establishments on Cross Cut Road.
“People should think why political parties that did not join hands for any common cause have now come together to protest demonetisation, which is an effort to put an end to parallel economy,” she said. Vanathi added “The parties first tried to misguide people by saying that the poor man is affected.
Later they campaigned that farmers are affected and now they claim shortage of change as the reason for which they are opposing the Prime Minister’s decision,” she said and made an appeal to the people to understand the motive of the political parties that have sought support from the public for the bandh.
Training for traders The BJP has planned to conduct a training programme for traders in latest technology used in money transfers.
“In the first week of December BJP will conduct a training programme in Coimbatore for traders doing business for Rs 2,000 to Rs 50,000 a day in the cash and carry mode,” she said. “We will invite small scale shopkeepers and bankers to help the traders make use of POS machines. We will teach small traders to download mobile apps of the banks in which they have an account and on making e-transactions,” Vanathi said and added that such trainings will be conducted throughout the state.
