The Vendhar Movies proprietor, who went missing since May 28 and was arrested in Tirupur two days back for cheating medical aspirants to the tune of Rs 84.59 crore, was produced before the Saidapet magistrate court on Wednesday by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police. When the petition filed by the CCB seeking ten days’ custody for interrogation came up for hearing, the court granted seven days’ custody and directed the CCB police to produce him before the court by November 29. After this, Madhan was taken into custody by the CCB for interrogation. Meanwhile, initial inquiries revealed that Madhan was a womaniser, and that two of his associates Geetanjali and Varsha allegedly ‘supplied’ him with girls.

More details have emerged about Varsha, from whose house in Tirupur, Madhan was arrested on Monday. Police sources said that Varsha was working as a fashion designer in the cinema industry a few years back. After she separated from her husband, she opened a boutique in Tirupur. Soon after that, Madhan became friendly with Varsha, who was also said to be a relative of his second wife. After he came to Tirupur, the duo stayed in a bungalow. The source claimed that the neighbours were unaware that Madhan was residing with Varsha. The spacious house has four bedrooms, and one of them had a ‘secret passage’, where Madhan was hiding.

After the police caught him, Varsha told the police that Madhan had assured her that he would soon surrender before the police and that she had no connection to any of his fraudulent activities. Madhan had been travelling for the past six months to several places, including Kochi, Varanasi, Haridwar, Bengaluru, Himachal Pradesh and finally to Tirupur where he stayed for more than a month. As many as 109 criminal cases are pending against Madhan.
