    Minor clashes at Aravakurichi

    Tension prevailed in both Aravakurichi and Thanjavur segments after arch rivals AIADMK and DMK cadre had frequent verbal quarrels which gave a tough time for the police on duty in some polling booths.

    In Aravakurichi, AIADMK cadre were found campaigning for their candidate at the polling station in Government Higher Secondary Shah Nagar in Pallapatti. DMK men opposed it and a quarrel ensued. 

    Subsequently, the police removed around 50 digital banners of both AIADMK and DMK near the polling station. In another polling station DMK cadre  complained that outsiders were assigned booth agent duties. The agents were asked to leave the booth. 

    In Thanjavur, police asked AIADMK cadre to leave a booth in Vallam based on the complaints of DMK cadre. It prompted a tussle among police, AIADMK and DMK men. DMK men staged a road roko. 

    Bogus votes 

    Meanwhile, DMK cadre caught 8 AIADMK persons trying to put bogus votes at Mannar Sarfoji Government College. Police arrested them. 

    Senthil, an AIADMK cadre, who was distributing tokens at Therkupalanji village in Tiruparankundam, was arrested.
