CUB customers to bank on robot Lakshmi
City Union Bank Limited, a South Indian group recently announced the introduction of CUB Lakshmi, a robotic assistant, aimed at easing the banking experience of the customers.

The Bank has initiated the installation of the robot on a pilot basis in their branch at T Nagar. The robot will answer generic banking related questions of the customers. The artificial intelligence based solution is being deployed to leverage the power of next gen technology for
the bank’s customers.
Dr N Kamakodi, MD & CEO of the bank said, “CUB believes in offering personalised services to customers. We are happy to introduce the robot CUB Lakshmi. We believe this is a step in the right direction. The robot is capable of multitasking and will soon be integrated to our automation processes.”
The bank also announced its performance results for Q2 for the Financial Year 2016-17. Outlining the performance of the bank, Kamakodi said, “The total business of
the bank crossed the milestone of Rs. 50,000 crores during the second quarter posting a net profit of Rs. 123.76 crores. In a challenging business environment, CUB was able to maintain its asset quality and has achieved excellent results across all performance metrics.”
The gross profit for Q2 FY 2017 went up by 15% to Rs 236.76 cr and PAT grew by 15% to Rs 123.76 cr. The Net interest income rose by 25% to Rs 301.21 Cr. Net Interest Margin for the quarter stood at 4.20% and Return on Assets at 1.50%.
