DMK candidate booked for money distribution

The official teams keep a strict vigil and are on watch out for any model code violations in the constituency right from the day of the announcement of by-elections. Despite their best efforts, cadre of both DMK and AIADMK has been finding novel methods to distribute money to the voters here. On Monday, DMK candidate Saravanan carried on his campaign at KV Puram, Nilayur, Sambakarai, Keelavelanpatti areas in Tiruparankundram constituency.

During the campaign the women voters has welcomed Saravanan by taking arathi and he has allegedly placed money on the arathi plates. A satellite television broadcast the whole incident. Taking the footage as evidence, Austinpatti Inspector Rajarajan filed a complaint against Saravanan that he tried to bribe the voters indirectly. Based on the complaint a case was registered by Austinpatti police and the Returning Officer of the constituency is investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, the Tiruparankundram police has also filed cases against DMK and AIADMK cadres for advertising without obtaining prior permission in the constituency. Based on the complaint from flying squad official, cases were registered against AIADMK functionary Pazhanisamy and DMK functionary Pichai. During the vehicle check near Madurai Kamaraj University, the flying squad officials has stopped a bus from Theni and when inspected 10 kg of silver worth Rs 2 lakh and 7.75 kg of silver worth Rs 1.70 lakh has been found in the custody of Sankar and Dharmadurai. The officials seized the items. Cash of Rs 2.25 lakh has also been seized by the team, on Tuesday.
