Speaking to the media persons in the sidelines of senior leader LK Advani’s birthday celebrations, Raja said, “actually, the DMK had only betrayed the farmers of Tamil Nadu by going hand in hand when the Congress was in power at the Centre.” He stressed that the Centre will certainly form the Cauvery Management Board (CMB). “In the same way, it will also ensure that Jallikattu is conducted and Uniform Civic Code (UCC) is introduced clearing all impediments,” Raja added Reiterating that the BJP had never said that it would not form CMB, the BJP leader said that the Modi government would pass a suitable resolution in Parliament so that no one could question it after it was established. Raja also expressed confidence that the Centre would also pass the Uniform Civil Code as the government has an absolute majority. Similarly, the amendment on Jallikattu would also be passed during the winter session.
Women in Sabarimalai
Raja said that each Hindu temple has its own tradition and the restriction on the entry of women at the Lord Ayyappa temple on Sabarimala between the age of 10 and 50 was tied to their physical conditions “It will not be convenient for the women to climb the hill. If they climb the hillock, they will face some problems. Further there are no much healthcare facilities atop the hill. So, the restriction has been in place for decades or centuries,” said Raja and added that there were several temples in Kerala where only women would be allowed. Meanwhile, he charged the Left parties for trying to politicise the issue in Kerala by interfering with the Hindu practices.
