‘Wanted’ posters of Maoists in Nilgiris
Following the encounter between police and Maoists in the Odisha-Andhra border on October 24, the police have put up the photos of 32 wanted Maoists on sign boards in the towns and important tribal settlements in The Nilgiris that are bordering Kerala and Karnataka.
The police have also stepped up security at the bordering check posts. In the October 24 clash, 28 Maoists were killed and it is suspected that that the others could enter the bordering settlements through the tri-junction.
Most of the persons whose images featured in the flex banners titled ‘Absconding Maoists Photos’ are from Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Ten of them are women. Contact details of the police have also been published in the banners that were put up in Manjoor and Gudalur.
The police said that the number of armed gunmen at bordering check posts has also been doubled.
