BJP names candidates for 3 seats

The BJP’s central unit has announced candidates for Thanjavur and Aravakurichi elections. The Thanajvur candidate is MS Ramalingam who was announced for the 2016 elections which was deferred while the candidate for Aravakurichi is the party’s district youth wing leader S. Prabhu who replaces Arumugam Pillai who was chosen last time. 

TN BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan said the names recommended by the state unit were accepted by the national unit. 

In a shocking incident, deposit amount was robbed from an independent candidate, Rajkumar from Kovilpatti, who came to file his nomination for the Tiruparakundram by-election, on Thursday.

He had obtained the application papers and had gone to fill them. When he returned, he was shocked to find Rs.10,000 missing from his pockets. He informed the security personnel but did not lodge any complaint. He claimed that he will form a new party and his aim was to convert people into devotees of Krishna. He said he would file his nomination on Friday.
