GK Vasan alleged that many ATMs of nationalised banks in Tamil Nadu do not have Tamil as optional language, Vasan said ordinary people were struggling to even fill the forms, which are available only in English or Hindi and hence the forms should be made available in regional languages too.

Stating that many bank officers were from north India and they are finding it difficult to help Tamil speaking people. He urged the Centre to post more regional language speaking officers in nationalised banks besides training the north Indian officers to speak regional languages.

Referring to a recent representation made to RBI by Tamil scholars, who demanded use of Tamil in banks, he urged the union government to consider their demands and ensure use of Tamil in all Central institutions.
