BJP says all-party meet on Cauvery unnecessary

Addressing reporters at the Coimbatore airport she called the meeting an unnecessary exercise to gain political mileage. “As an ally of the Congress the DMK should be able to convince them to abide by the Supreme Court’s direction and get the 2,000 cusecs that should have been released by the Congress government in Karnataka several days ago,” she said and added that BJP will not participate in the allparty meeting. 

Pressing for the Common Civil Code, she said that various political parties and organisations are making a false propaganda by giving religious colour to it. The Common Civil Code is proposed by the party to protect the minority women and their rights. She added that even Muslim women oppose the Triple Talaq system of divorce, she said. 

Tamilisai said that the BJP will confidently contest in all the three Assembly constituencies in the November 19 elections as the party has worked for the people. 

She questioned the People’s Welfare Front (PWF) for backing out from the polls and by poll. She also criticised the two major Dravidian parties for announcing the same candidates for the elections despite the Election Commission cancelling the polls for two of those Assembly constituencies on the allegations of cash distribution by the candidates to the voters.

Expressing satisfaction over the recovery of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, she said that the remarks made by DMK leader MK Stalin about her health were unnecessary.
