CB-CID given 3 months to crack Ramajeyam murder case
The Madras High Court (Madurai Bench) had given ultimatum of three more months to CB-CID to arrest the accused in the murder case of Ramajayam, the slain brother of DMK leader K.N.Nehru.

The petitioner Latha Ramajeyam, wife of deceased Ramajeyam, in her petition had asked the case to be transferred to CBI. But the CBCID had demanded four months’ time. The council of Latha Ramajeyam had refused to accept, claiming the CBCID had already taken 4.5 years to solve the case and hence the case should immediately be transferred to CBI.Â
But CBCID, in their argument, claimed that they had almost closed in on the accused and if the case is transferred at this critical juncture, all their efforts would be wasted. Judges asked the CBCID, whether they were carrying out scientific means of investigation to nab the accused for which they had no reply.Â
At the end of the arguments, the High Court issued an ultimatum of three months to CBCID to crack the case. K.N. Ramajeyam, brother of former DMK State Minister K.N. Nehru, was murdered by unidentified assailants in Tiruchi on March 29, 2012. Ramajeyam is believed to have gone for a morning walk from his Thillai Nagar residence early on the day he was found murdered. The last call on his mobile phone was made from a tower located close to the Tiruchi railway station around 5.40 a.m.
