According to the statement of Siblings Rajesh and Dinesh, Thangaraj, the Melamanampedu Panchayat president, had murdered their father Manoharan in 1998. Further, Thangaraj had also threatened their mother not to depose before the court against him in the murder of Manoharan. Later, he was acquitted from the case.

Besides this, he had also grabbed an acre of land from the family of Manoharan. As they had no other option, the siblings were forced to move to their uncle’s residence located in the same area.

Ever since, the brothers were waiting for the right time to settle scores with Thangaraj. “Finally, on October 14, we managed to kill him after 18 years,” the siblings told the police.

They also added that not only their family, but several others were also cheated by Thangaraj. Police have also arrested eight others, Veera, Ajay, Ganesan, Saravanan, Devaraj, Marimuthu, Sasidharan and Vipin, for aiding the siblings in the murder of the panchayat president.

The police conducted investigations in a swift manner and arrested the ten persons within 48 hours of the murder. All the ten accused were produced before a local court in Tiruvallur district. Later, the accused were lodged in Puzhal prison.
