    Special pujas for speedy recovery of Chief Minister

    With Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa continuing to receive treatment at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, AIADMK party cadres conducted special prayers across the state, wishing her a speedy recovery.

    AIADMK cadre across the state thronged temples and made a variety of offerings

    Led by senior party leaders, ministers and MLAs, special ‘lakshmi pujas’ were conducted in temples in Dindigul, Karur, Ulundurpet, Tiruvannamalai, Tiruvarur, Salem and also in Chennai, party sources said. Some party members also did special pujas at a temple in the premises of Apollo Hospitals. “Today, being a full moon day, our party colleagues conducted special puja for betterment of our Chief Minister. We hope she will come back home very soon,” AIADMK party spokesperson C R Saraswathi said. 

    In Madurai, an AIADMK cadre Irulandi offered special prayers at Pechi Amman temple at Simmakkal by sleeping on five different types of thorn beds for 24 hours. AIADMK cadres offered special prayers by placing the photo of Jayalalithaa at various temples. Annadhanam was also provided at several temples. 

    In Usilampatti, a Vilaku puja was performed in almost all the temples in the town. Women cadres lit more than 1,008 lamps praying for the speedy recovery of Jayalalithaa.  In Thoothukudi district, special prayers were offered at temples and churches. Thoothukudi AIADMK district secretary, S T Chellapandian, and state AIADMK Youth Wing Secretary N Chinnadurai offered special prayers. Special prayers were offered at Tiruchendur Murugan Temple and Perumal Temple at Sathankulam. Similarly, in Tirunelveli special prayers were offered at Nellaiyappar temple.
