Saint Ramanuja, administrator par excellence: Governor
The acting Governor of Tamil Nadu C Vidyasagar Rao reiterated here on Friday that the water dispute has been prevailing in various parts of the country and recalled that Saint Ramanuja had a vast knowledge in handling any disputes and even helped the villagers of Karnataka by raising a dam when they faced water scarcity during his times.

The Governor was addressing an event organised in commemoration of the 1000th birth anniversary of Vaishnavite Saint Ramanuja held at Srirangam. He said that India has given the world a large number of religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. A large number of noted saints like Buddha, Mahavira, Guru Nanak, Sant Kabir and Sri Ramanuja have lived in the country. And they all preached peace to the world which was carried across the globe by many Acharyas, who were their sincere disciples. Speaking on the water dispute between the states of India, the Governor recalled that Saint Ramanuja had once tackled the water dispute during his time. “When he came to know that an interior village in Karnataka was facing water scarcity, the Saint visited the village and raised a dam to redress it. He possessed such a vast knowledge in handling administrative problems,” the Governor said. Earlier, the Governor honoured more than 10 Jeers who participated from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Large number of devotees went on a procession in the Chithirai and Uthirai veedhis in Srirangam. The Governor was accorded full temple honours and he offered prayers at the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple along with his wife.
