Call 182 if you spot crackers on trains
Railway Police Force to have a safe and incident-free Deepavali is seeking the help of the passengers. They requested the people to call 182 in case they find crackers or any other explosives being taken in the train.
Madurai
On Tuesday the RPF men were involved in an awareness campaign at the Madurai Railway Junction where they distributed two pamphlets containing awareness message for passengers and the details of the toll free number.Â
Whenever trains visited the platforms the RPF men were quick in distributing the pamphlets to the passengers traveling in general coaches where large number of people travel. RPF Inspector, R Sivakumar, who led the awareness campaign claimed that the awareness campaign is carried out for two purposes. One is to familiarise their toll free number 182 among the passengers. It works in the similar fashion as that of Police emergency number 100. The campaign also aims to ask people not to carry crackers and explosives as it is an offense under section 164 of Railway Act of 1989 where the crime is punishable up to 3 years of imprisonment and fine up to Rs 1,000.
People carrying crackers must realise the problems associated with it and other passengers who notice crackers being carried in the train must not hesitate to call the RFP toll free number of 182 said Sivakumar.
