Two arrested for posting malicious contents about Jayalalithaa's health in social media
The Cyber Crime wing of the Chennai city Police today arrested two people for posting malicious contents and rumours in the social media on Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's health condition, even as a total of 43 cases were registered for spreading rumours in the social media.

A statement from the Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner's office said acting on complaints from AIADMK IT Wing Secretary G Ramachandran and Rajakamal of Nungambakkam, police registered  cases and arrested the duo.Â
The two accused namely Sathish Kumar and Madasamy were arrested under sections 153, 505(1)(b)(c) and 505(2) of IPC for offences of spreading rumours with intent to cause riot, creating panic among general public, causing disturbance to public order and for creating hatred between two groups.Â
In the past few days some posts had appeared on the Social Media spreading false and malicious rumours about the health of the Chief Minister and a number of complaints were received by the Police in this regard.
Stating that cases were registered and taken up for investigation, the statement said on the instructions of the Commissioner of Police S George, multiple teams consisting of Police officers from the Cyber cell as well as experts on Cyber security were constituted to investigate these cases, track the culprits and apprehend them.Â
These teams worked continuously scanned all the suspect sites using various cyber tools and techniques.Â
Suspect social media sites posting such malicious information were also monitored, the statement said.
