College student hacked at Kotturpuram

The victim, Dyaran Michael Murali, a resident of Washermanpet studying at Patrician College of Arts and Science, Adyar, is said to have suffered serious injuries but declared to be out of danger. The people at the railway station rushed the youth first to the Government Royapettah Hospital. He was later shifted to Stanley Medical College.

Fallout of students’ clash 

Egmore Railway police, who are investigating the case, told DTNext that the attack was fallout of some problem between the college students. Though the gang fled from the scene, police said the assailants have been identified and the arrests would be made sooner. 

Meanwhile, the security at railway stations continue to be a matter of concern. When Swathi was hacked to death in the open at Nungambakkam railway station, the railway police and RPF were forced to provide at least one guard at the suburban railway stations. However, the condition in MRTS stations continue to be pathetic and many women passengers find them extremely unsafe to travel. 

3rd incident since Swathi murder 

On September 29, another college student was hacked inside Minjur railway station when he was returning home after attending college. 

Karthik (19), a 2nd year B Com student was hacked by a three-member gang inside the station in full public view. Police claimed the problem between college students was the reason for the attack in this case as well.
