    VOC Port hauls three new records in handling

    VOC Port in Thoothukudi created three new records in the handling department in the month of September by surpassing its own records.

    The Port created a record in handling stone aggregate by loading 43,510 metric tonnes onto the vessel MV Thetis at Berth No. 3 surpassing the previous record of 40,000 metric tonnes of aggregate stone loaded to the vessel MV Capt Nazih in February 2015. 

    It created a single day loading record in the port by loading 20,900 metric tonnes of stone aggregate to the vessel MV Thetis on September 16, surpassing the previous record of 13,053 metric tonnes loaded to the vessel MV Capt Nazih in February 24, 2015. M/s. Navship Marine Services Pvt Ltd, Thoothukudi was the vessel agent and M/s. Shiva Agencies was the Stevedore agent for MV Thetis.

    The Port created a new record by handling 14,385 metric tonnes of DAP in the vessel MV Hongyuan on September 11 at Berth No.9 surpassing the previous record of 13,756 metric tonnes of DAP handled from the vessel MV Pacific Future on June 6, 2008. M/s. Interocean Shipping Pvt. Ltd was the vessel agent and M/s. PSTS Logistics Pvt. Ltd was the Stevedore agent for MV. Hongyuan. The Port registered a new high by handling 33,760 metric tonnes of coal on September 29 from the vessel MV Js Sanaga surpassing the previous record of 30,180 metric tonnes of coal handled from the vessel MV Astra Perseus on February 27. M/s. Sical Logistics Pvt. Ltd was the vessel agent and M/s. TRF Ltd., was the stevedore agent for MV Js Sanaga.

    S. Anantha Chandra Bose, Chairman, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust, thanked the stakeholders, officers and the employees of the Port who have contributed to the achievements. He also said that the records have conveyed that this Port is continuously striving to achieve high in performance and productivity in order to attract more volume of traffic through the Port in Thoothukudi.
