Swachh Sagar Abhiyan held
On the lines of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative and Gandhi Jayanti celebrations Indian Coast Guard men took an initiative towards protecting and preserving the marine environment. They called it Swachh Sagar Abhiyan.

The personnel cleared nearly two tonnes of debris and garbage from the beaches and areas adjoining the coast at Thoothukudi under the initiative on Sunday.Â
Coast guard personnel at Thoothukudi along with cadets from Marine Training Institute and volunteers from Sterlite Industries, SPIC Ltd and Oil India Ltd participated in the clean-up drive.Â
They carried out cleaning of sea front area of the VOC Port, Indian Coast Guard Station, shallow draught berth and Roche park in Thoothukudi city which is located close to sea.Â
Coast Guard sources said around 300 personnel participated in the drive.
