Ban on unauthorised plots registration challenged
The All India Real Estate Traders Agents and Workers Welfare Association has moved the Madras High Court challenging the blanket ban imposed by it on registering sale deed of houses built on unauthorised plots and layouts.
Chennai
Seeking to implead itself as a party respondent in the petition filed by Elephant Rajendran, which sought to restrain the authorities from giving approval to convert agricultural lands into layouts, the plea has submitted that the members of the petitioner association have not converted any wetland into a layout and they have only converted dry lands and sold the plots. Now, owing to the blanket ban, many innocent people were at the receiving end.Â
The plea also contended that the court while dealing with cases involving the sale of unauthorised layouts had directed the authorities to enquire about the same and in the event of it being sold without permission had directed to take action after issuing due notice to the affected party. But in the present case, a blanket ban has been issued for registration of sale deed all over the state, the association added.
