Following the announcement of local body election and the new set of rules regarding the reservation of wards many had been searching for data on the website of Tamil Nadu Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department. All such frantic searches return empty pages as the website had not been updated for nearly six years.

The website is the most important link as it contains data about the recent policy note of the government and the details of reservation of seats in local body election. Sadly, the officials did not pay much care to the development of website and hence many sections in the site shows old date causing confusion among public.

Among many sections, the crucial one that was not updated is the database. In that the number of corporations, municipalities, town panchayat and other details were listed but they were not updated.

In the corporation section the number is still given as 10 whereas the actual number of corporations in Tamil Nadu is 12. The addition of Thanjavur and Dindigul Corporations were not updated on the website. Similar is the condition with the municipalities and town panchayats and the numbers that were present still reflect the status as of 2010.

The Fund Release Details were neither spared from the neglect of the Panchayat Raj department officials. The details were present only till 2010.

The details of financial allocations till 12th finance commission were only present in the website where as two more finance commissions with five years’ tenure were already constituted by the Central government.

Similar is the case with events section. Events from 2006 to October 10, 2010 were only present on the website and the events from 2011 to 2016 were not present.

Though the face of the website has the photo of Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa, the events section has the photos of only of the DMK leaders and none of the AIADMK leaders including Jayalalithaa appear in any of the photos in the events section of the website.
