Seat-sharing in PWF to be over September 30: VCK

With the civic body elections round the corner, all the political parties are busy preparing their final list of candidates and planning the campaign strategy. In the same vein, the People’s Welfare Front (PWF), consisting of CPI, CPM, VCK and MDMK which was routed in the assembly elections, is determined to change image of the alliance through local body elections.

VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan said that talks in connection with seat-sharing were going on. “We will complete the process before September 30, after which all the leaders will sit together for another round of talks,” the VCK chief told reporters on Monday.

Earlier, Thirumalavalavan rejected alliance with any other parties in the coming local body elections and stressed that the PWF allies would face the election alone. The state election commission should conduct the poll in free and transparent manner, he added.

Speaking to DTNext, Ravikumar, general secretary of VCK said that they were in the process of receiving nominations in the district levels. “All the PWF allies are getting nominations in the district levels and we are getting good response,” he said. He added that the PWF was working into the ground for winning. It may be noted that the VCK chief 10 days ago said that they held talks with PWF on sharing seats among the allies and the VCK will face the election as part of the PWF.

However, the DMDK leader Vijayakant was yet to make a clear word on his party’s stance whether they would walk out of the PWF combine or align with some other party.

    Withdrawal signs from DMDK

Meanwhile, there are also speculations that the DMDK may either go it alone to prove its vote share or even skip the polls itself. The TMC which contested in the Assembly election in alliance with the PWF-DMDK front has announced that it would go it alone in the upcoming civic elections.
