    Candidates create traffic chaos in Temple city

    The main roads in Madurai were chocka-block with traffic till afternoon as all the AIADMK candidates filed their nominations at the respective Zonal offices for all the 100 wards of the Corporation, on Tuesday.

    The AIADMK candidates along with their supporters crowded the zonal offices as a result the roads too were crowded till noon. As all the AIADMK cadres filed their nomination at the same time there was heavy traffic on Madurai roads. 

    West Veli Street which houses the Madurai Railway Junction and Periyar Bus stand which is one of the busiest streets of Madurai was jammed owing to the nomination at Zone 4 office which is present in the road. As the nomination happened around 1 pm there was heavy traffic jam at the road and bike riders were left in a lurch. 

    At Zone 1 of Madurai Corporation, which covers 23 wards, Assistant Commissioner Mangala Ramasubramanian who is the Returning Officer for the Zone received the nominations. 

    At Zone 2, which covers 26 wards, Assistant Commissioner Palanisamy, who is the Returning Officer of the Zone received the nominations. At Zone 3, which covers 25 wards, Assistant Commissioner Chellappa who is the Returning Officer of the Zone, received the nominations. 

    At Zone 4, which covers the remaining 26 wards, Assistant Commissioner Narayanan, who is the Returning Officer of the Zone, received the nominations. 

    Similarly, AIADMK candidates filed their nominations at Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli Corporations. N Chinndurai, candidate of Ward No 51 at Thoothukudi Corporation, the probable Mayor candidate, filed the nomination along with AIADMK Thoothukudi District Secretary, ST Chellapandian.

    Missing three Three 

    AIADMK candidates did not file nomination at Thoothukudi Corporation on Tuesday. Candidates of 14, 49 and 52 wards were the three to miss out.
