DMDK, BJP to go it alone in local body polls
In an attempt to regain the lost clout in political arena in the state, DMDK would face to local body elections alone, said one of the key office-bearers of the party.

Party leader Vijayakant is said to have taken the decision despite the boycott call by district secretaries at a recent meeting.
“Our leader is determined to restore the influence of party in the state politics, after a bitter defeat at the Assembly election. So, he doesn’t want to give up on the civic polls. At the same time, he doesn’t want face the elections in alliance with PWF. To go it alone is what he has decided,” said the office bearers.
It is said his recent trips to different districts was to instil confidence in DMDK cadre about the prospects of civic polls.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and national committee member L Ganesan, who was in Dindigul on Thursday, has announced that the party would face the upcoming elections in the state alone. He also condemned the violence over Cauvery issue.
Both parties have been receiving applications from the prospective candidates.
