Foul play suspected in priest’s death

The devotee identified as Karikalan alleges that the death of Sundaramurthy Thambiram was unnatural. In his compaint he had stated that police should investigate the cause of death as the pontiff had been taking care of properties of the mutt worth several hundred crores. 

According to reports, Sundaramurthy Thambiran (64) developed a severe chest pain and swooned on Monday around 9 pm. A team of doctors arrived at the mutt and declared him dead after conducting a series of tests. 

The pontiff had been deputed as the associate head of the mutt since 2009 and was administrating the properties and lands owned by the mutt. He had also been serving as secretary of the college run by the mutt. Meanwhile, the last rites were performed on Tuesday. 

A graduate in Physics, Sundaramuthy worked in Railways before getting into spirituality.
