Relatives press for judicial probe, seek CBI inquiry

At Meenatchipuram in Tirunelveli district, the native village of Ramkumar, his kin and villagers staged road roko at Panpoli Main Road in the morning. They alleged that Ramkumar did not commit suicide and was murdered by the officials. They demanded a judicial probe and wanted the case to be shifted to CBI. 

Ramkumar’s mother Pushpam, said that they had met him 25 days ago and he was stable. “Policemen have murdered my son as his bail  petition would have been heard on September 19. They would have thought that if Ramkumar gets released on bail their unfair acts would be brought to light.” 

“My son was not a coward to commit suicide. Right on the day of his arrest, police slit his throat to prevent him from speaking, now they have silenced him permanently,” she said. Hence to bring out the truth, a judicial probe must be conducted and the case should be shifted to CBI, demanded Pushpam. 

On Sunday night four buses were damaged. Two buses from Tirunelveli to Papanasam were stoned at Agasthiyarpatti. Similarly, TNSTC bus from Papanasam to Tiruneveli was damaged at Agasthiyar Temple. 

In the third incident a TNSTC bus from Nagercoil to Tenkasi was damaged at Mannarkovil. Police have booked cases. 

Meanwhile in Madurai, Law College students who staged a road roko were held. 

Advocate Bramma, from Tirunelveli, had filed an RTI demanding answers for some of the missing links in the Swathi murder case. He had posed 23 questions to the DGP. One of the questions demanded the cop of a letter sent by Intelligence Department to Police asking to speed up the case and not to allow Ramkumar on bail based on the complaint filed by Swathi’s mother.
