Storming Operation: over 800 held in Chennai city
In a bid to bring down the crime rate, the Chennai City Police launched a storming operation last night and detained more than 800 people on various charges.

Police sources said as part of the operation, police intensified patrolling and conducted vehicle checks and searches in hotels and lodges in a bid to arrest history sheeters, who were on the run, and execute the non-bailable warrants issued against them by the courts.
During the night-long operation, 766 people were detained on suspicious grounds and 23 arrested under Secs 109 and 110 of CrPc.
The sources said a total of 56 people were detained on charges of drunken driving.
